Starz has officially acquired the US broadcasting rights to Sony Pictures Television’s (SPT) new crime procedural spin-off series, S.W.A.T. Exiles.
The 10-episode first season is scheduled to premiere on September 25, with new episodes airing weekly on the Starz channel and streaming on the Starz app.
On a global scale, the series has lined up extensive international sales across major platforms. Key distribution partners include Disney+ in Latin America, Sky in Germany, Italy, and New Zealand, Canal+ in Poland, Central and Eastern Europe, and Africa, and beIN across the Middle East, North Africa, and Türkiye.
The storyline sees lead actor Shemar Moore reprise his role as Daniel Harrelson, who is pulled out of forced retirement to lead an experimental S.W.A.T. unit made up of untested and unpredictable young recruits. The cast also includes Lucy Barrett and Adain Bradley. This spin-off project, helmed by showrunner Jason Ning, was financed through a partnership between SPT Studios and its global distribution division after the flagship S.W.A.T. series wrapped up its eight-season run on CBS.
